Lesson after Basant Bhandara of 153rd birth anniversary of pujya Lalaji Maharaj
My most precious lesson learnt in life
Journal Reflection after Daaji’s Basant Bhandara Message
My Master
Dear Daaji,
Your message at the 153rd Basant Bhandara reached me at a very deep place. It felt as though it was written to address a long-standing inner confusion of my own heart. Though this understanding had already begun to unfold through contemplation, discussions, and the guidance of preceptors, your message brought a final and gentle clarity—quietly resolving everything.
Coming from a strong Jain kriyakand background, my spiritual life had been intensely inward-oriented. Somewhere within me grew the belief that worldly duties, thoughts, and involvements were distractions, even a waste of time. The idea of purity seemed to mean remaining constantly absorbed in puja, path, satsang, and inner practices, while responsi is bilities as a grihastha felt secondary or burdensome. Slowly, without realizing it fully, a subtle negativity toward outward life took root.
Your explanation of the two wolves brought deep insight into this inner conflict. Earlier, it felt as if two opposing forces were fighting within me—one pulling inward toward silence and the higher, and the other pulling outward toward duties and social life. I unconsciously believed that feeding the outward life strengthened the lower nature.
Through your message, I clearly understood that this is not what the two wolves truly represent. The outward life does not need to be “fed” at all—it only needs to be lived responsibly and naturally. What truly nourishes the heart is meditation, cleaning, prayer, and openness to grace. Outward duties, when performed without attachment or resistance, do not strengthen the lower tendencies. They become part of balance.
Heartfulness has gently taught me that spirituality is not about choosing one wolf over the other through struggle or rejection. It is about changing the orientation of the heart. When the heart is cleaned and refined, the higher nature is nourished automatically, and the lower tendencies lose their grip without force.
Your message made it beautifully clear that Heartfulness is not about choosing inward over outward; it is about keeping the heart oriented inward while life moves outward. In this understanding, there is no conflict—only integration. Life is lived fully, and the heart remains light and aligned.
This message has dissolved the last traces of inner division and brought a deep sense of peace and confidence on the path. What remains is gratitude—for the clarity, for the compassion, and for a path that is deeply spiritual yet fully human.
With love, reverence, and thankfulness,
🙏
Anita Jain
